Dr. Alvi has over a decade of experience in the field of dentistry, and he loves every minute of what he does. Building strong relationships and providing personalized care for every patient are his top priorities, and he’s incredibly grateful for the team he gets to work with. Ever since he can remember, he’s always wanted to do something that allowed him to work with his hands and fix things. After shadowing his dentist for two weeks, he decided dentistry was the profession that fit him best.
Following his undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota, Dr. Alvi stayed to obtain his Doctor of Dental Surgery. Today, he remains dedicated to pursuing continuing education so he can refine his skills and expertise by taking courses in various topics, such as endodontics, children’s dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, and dental implant restorations.
Outside of the office, Dr. Alvi is married and has two children. His hobbies involve cycling and running, and he even has a passion for baking desserts. He typically compares his attention to detail in creating sweet treats to be equivalent to his dental work.
Originating from Ethiopia, Dr. Assemu brings more than a decade of dental experience to the team, and we’re lucky to have him! For him, dentistry is more than just for treating pearly whites—it’s about compassion and helping others live their best lives. Due to his personal experience with dental discomfort and oral health problems, he ended up leaning toward dentistry when it came to picking the healthcare area he wanted to work in. He finds his work extremely fulfilling and it even allows him plenty of freedom to spend time with his family.
Dr. Assemu first attended Tennessee State University for his undergraduate degree before studying at the University of Tennessee in Memphis for his Doctor of Dental Surgery. Even after graduating, he remains committed to seeking continuing education so that he can stay up to date with the latest advancements, technology, and techniques in the field. At home, he lives with his wife and their three sons. Other than treating smiles, he enjoys things like hiking, biking, and playing soccer.
One of the best parts of Dr. Sharma’s day is seeing her patients smiling after getting their treatment. Not only does she enjoy maintaining and improving other’s oral health, but she also finds it rewarding to build meaningful relationships with everyone who walks through our doors. Growing up in a family of doctors, she always knew she wanted to work in the healthcare field. After shadowing several professionals, dentistry seemed to be the right choice for her, and she’s never looked back.
Dr. Sharma first obtained her Bachelor of Dental Surgery degree from Himachal Dental College in India before studying at the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine for her Doctor of Dental Surgery. Of course, she still takes continuing education courses to expand her knowledge and skills in multiple areas, especially cosmetic dentistry and endodontics. She’s also a member of the American Dental Association and Texas Dental Association.
At home, Dr. Sharma spends much of her time with her husband and their son. She also enjoys going on road trips, trying new foods, listening to music, watching movies, and cooking up new dishes whenever she gets the chance!
Dr. Sehmi understood the importance of having a nice and healthy smile early on, as it was the first thing she noticed about others that gave her comfort and confidence to express herself freely. Since then, she’s known that she wanted to be in a profession where she can help people achieve their best pearly whites while creating lasting relationships.
After graduating from Virginia Commonwealth University, Dr. Sehmi ended up achieving her dental degree from the Virginia Commonwealth University School of Dentistry. Now, she remains dedicated to seeking advanced training courses to refine her skills in various topics, including dental implant dentistry, full arch reconstructions, and Invisalign. She is also a proud member of the Academy of Laser Dentistry and the Texas Dental Association.
At home, Dr. Sehmi is happily married and enjoys hobbies like cooking, baking, hiking, and exploring new places around Austin. Fun fact: she used to be a competitive swimmer and Indian classical dancer!
Everything went very well. The staff and Dr's were very pleasant and through. The procedures I had were explained in detail, and only done with my consent, plus and minus facts considered in the decisions. Hard to give anything a 5 but this was close.

Unfortunately, many patients take the “wait and see” approach in an attempt to save money, even if they are dealing with a serious toothache, bleeding gums, or a loose restoration. This often has the opposite effect since the longer you wait, the worse the root of the problem will get. The good news is that we offer several financial solutions at our office to ensure you don’t have to choose between the health of your smile and the health of your wallet. If you’re interested in learning more, you can give us a call; we’d be happy to answer any questions you have! You can also click on the icons below to learn more.
If you need to schedule a checkup or want to rebuild your smile with dental implants, we’re here to help! To get to our office from Hutto, head north on Jim Cage Ln toward US-79 S and turn right at the 1st cross street onto US-79 N. Keep left to continue on W 2nd St, then make another left onto N Main St. Pass by Dairy Queen on the left, and you should see our office to your right. If you’re in need of emergency dental care, your first step should always be to call the team at Taylor Choice Dental and let one of our friendly staff members assist you. If you are experiencing a life-threatening emergency, please call 911 immediately.
Most hospital emergency rooms, mobile ERs, and urgent care clinics are not equipped to handle dental emergencies, and thus if you go to one of these establishments you are unlikely to be treated.
In most cases, you can expect to get a same-day appointment with us, but please call us as soon as possible for immediate attention.
It is important to note that dental emergencies can often be an indication of larger dental problems, and an important sign that it’s time to get back into the habit of regular visits to the dentist, which can save you time, money, and your natural teeth!
When searching for the best place to get dental work done, it’s important to first define what it is you’re looking for, or in other words, what’s important to you. For most patients, it’s a combination of things like welcoming your insurance, practice location, dentist credentials, safety and cleanliness standards, and hours of operation.
Additionally, it’s important to know what type of dental care you need, such as a dentist who will work with children, someone who offers routine check-ups and cleanings, can perform major restorative work, or even someone skilled at cosmetic dentistry, as some dentists are better choices for certain procedures.
Finally, you’ll want to get a good feel for the practice and how they treat their patients. At Taylor Choice Dental, our team believes that trust is the guiding principle of any good patient-dentist relationship, which is why we strive to be completely transparent about our care and will never try to upsell you or push a treatment you don’t need or want.
Once you’ve identified what you’re looking for, you can read our patient reviews and the doctor and staff bios on our website. These are excellent ways to find a dentist who meets your needs, as well as answer any questions you may not have even realize you have!
The average cost of a dental check-up and cleaning can vary greatly depending on geography and many other factors, including the health of the individual patient.
Any check-up and cleaning should begin with a patient’s health history, as well as a discussion of questions and concerns. It should also include a thorough dental exam completed by a dentist, a professional cleaning, X-rays, and an oral cancer screening.
The average cost for this type of appointment in markets across the United States is between $200 and $350. If you have dental insurance, the fees for your check-up and cleaning (including any co-pays) are negotiated by your insurance company with our practice.
All dentists in the United States must have earned either a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or a Doctor of Dental Sciences (DDS) from one of the 67 accredited dental schools in the country.
Acceptance into dental school requires the student to have earned a bachelor's degree and very high grades in a math-and-science-heavy major.
Dental school is an additional three years, with a combination of both classroom and hands-on learning.
Following dental school, some dentists choose to continue their education by earning one of twelve specializations recognized by the American Dental Association (ADA), which take an additional three or more years to complete.
All dentists are required by law to complete a certain number of continuing education hours annually to maintain their license to practice dentistry.
